Autonomy News launched just five months ago, and since then, we’ve led the way in fearless reporting on the reproductive rights and justice beat. We were first on the story that Planned Parenthood was considering allowing some of its regional affiliates to drop abortion care in response to federal attacks, first to report when one affiliate did just that, and we even created a one-of-a-kind resource to help people figure out what care is still available at their local Planned Parenthood.
In fact, we’ve been first on a long list of stories: the controversy embroiling a new abortion care OBGYN subspecialty, a mysterious survey sent to OBGYNs by an anti-abortion group, an apparently fake abortion practical support service, and the wild $100 million counterclaim in a highly publicized wrongful death lawsuit over abortion pills. Most recently, in a collaboration with Mother Jones, we reported on exclusive audio recordings from a crisis pregnancy center conference, breaking down what behind-closed-doors conversations reveal about the anti-abortion movement’s strategy. We’ve scooped the New York Times, and our reporting has been cited by The Guardian, Talking Points Memo, New York Magazine, Crooked Media’s Hysteria podcast, and even in a federal court case.
